The Three Simple Questions

The Visual Thinking Strategy curriculum consists of three questions

Once you have a group of students gathered around an image you one the discussion by asking:

What's going on in this picture?

If the student needs to elaborate to make their statement more clear ask:
What makes you say that?

If the conversation comes to a halt you may ask:
What else can we find?


As the discussion is taking place the facilitator must... 


Paraphrase each student's observation.
Point at what they are observing.
Make connections between the student's observations.
